Heatley a Shark
The Ottawa Senators have traded unhappy forward Dany Heatley to the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks who were rumored to be the only 'real' team in contention to land Heatley (meaning he would be willing to waive his no-trade clause and accept a deal) sent forwards Milan Michalek, and Jonathan Cheechoo and a second round pick to the Senators for Heatley and a fifth round pick.
This deal works pretty well for both clubs... Sens get rid of the headache that Heatley's presence would be during training camp, and the Sharks shake up their roster (once again) and acquire a perrenial 50 goal scorer... who lined with Joe Thornton should have little problem achieving that mark again this season. However, the regular season has meant little to the Sharks and their supporters in the past few years... the real pressure will begin once the post season starts... then we'll see how good this deal is.

Glad this finally got done and yep I too like this deal for both squads. Hard not to say San Jose is the winner here because Heatley is a total beast, but who knows - maybe all Cheechoo needs is a change of scenery. I'm sure he'll have plenty of opportunities to put the puck in the net this year. Picked up an assist in last night's preseason game. Ottawa could have a rebound year if Pascal Leclaire can get the job done.
Yeah, I know, that's a HUGE "if."
