Later on Joe
Colorado Avalanche forward Joe Sakic will apparently announce his retirement on Thursday.
For 20 NHL seasons, Sakic played for the Quebec Nordiques / Colorado Avalanche. In 1378 games played, Joe Sakic scored 1,641 points (625 goals, 1,016 assists), was twice a Stanley Cup Winner, appeared in 13 NHL All-Star Games, was the MVP of the Canadian gold medal team in the 2002 Olympics. Clearly a first ballot hall of famer.
There is still a chance he may represent Canada in the 2010 Olympics which take place in Vancouver.
Joe Sakic was a special player. As I stated the other day, rare are the athletes that choose to remain with the same franchise for the length of their careers. Sakic will be missed.
Congratulations on an amazing career Joe!
Your friend on ice,
Captain Bosh
