A Fistful of Signings...
The Jaromir Jagr era appears to be over in New York, as the Rangers have moved on and signed unrestricted free agent winger Markus Naslund to a two year deal worth $8 million. Jagr's inability to make a decision on his playing future and GM Glen Sather's lack of patience to wait for him to make up his mind forced the Rangers to pursue other alternatives. The Rangers also signed defenceman Dmitir Kalinin to a one year deal.
The San Jose Sharks prepared for life after Brian Campbell by signing veteran defenceman Rob Blake to a one year deal worth $5 million.
The Montreal Canadiens signed tough guy Georges Laraque to a three year deal worth $4.5 million. The Habs also signed buy-out casualty goaltender Marc Denis to a one year deal.

Naslund, eh? I kind of was curious to see if he might go to Pittsburgh but this might work in New York. Who do you suspect will be his linemates?

The rumor is... Gomez centering Naslund and Zherdev... unless the chemistry isn't there... after that I have no idea. The Rangers have a lot of kids coming up who will be given every opportunity to make the club this year.
