Hasek leaves the NHL as the one of the greatest netminders of all times. Twice a Stanley Cup Champion, a 6 time Vezina Trophy winner, and a two time winner of the Hart Trophy for the league MVP which he won consecutively in 1997 and 1998.

Wait, didn't I hear this in 2003?
Actually that was kind of hillarious, when you think about it. Detroit went out and signed Cujo, but then hasek came OUT Of retirement, saddlign detroit with 2 8 million dollar goalies...
...who both went down in flames, allowing Manny Legace to take care of most of the season?

Judging by how he left the playoffs this season, I would say the ride is over. The guy has nothing left to prove, and unless he just wants to pad his bank account, he may as well just enjoy the retirement.

My guess is also that it's for real this time. Now he will have more opportunities to get in fights playing street hockey back in the Czech Republic. And who wouldn't want to do that during their retirement?
Also, looks like Ron Wilson will be announced as the coach of the Leafs today.
Good for them. But good for him? Time will tell...
