Unsportsmanlike
The NHL deemed New York Rangers forward Sean Avery's actions during their 4-3 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils to be unsportsmanlike. Thus if he or any other player screen a goaltender in a manner similar to what you see above, they will recieve a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and enjoy two minutes of luxurious rest and relaxation in the sin bin.
The New Jersey Devils climbed back into the playoffs with a deflected John Madden shot turned game winner last night, and now trail the Rangers 2 -1 in the series.

Did you hear DiPietro on Versus last night make the comment that about 90% of the guys in the league probably wished Avery would've been hit in the back of the head by a teammate's slapshot while doing that monkey business? Pretty funny. I like Ricky D. He's got a future in sportscasting.
Avery has a future as a trivia answer. I'm guessing he'll probably get a big kick out of being the reason a league-wide rule was instigated. I know I would. And I give him credit; anybody who gets in Brodeur's head is A-ok with me. Sure it was a little silly, but...I hate the Devils.

Avery is the guy everyone loves to hate. I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Avery is an ass. But he's our ass.
I wonder if the league would have reacted so quickly had he not raised his stick so high, and just faced him and blocked with his body?

I think it's funny how Broduer reacted. Tapped avery on the cup, then punched him.
I hate it when goalies decide to use that big ass stick of theirs like that. Part of the reason I play D most of the time.
