Grilled Sharks
The Calgary Flames stunned the San Jose Sharks last night taking game 1 and home ice advantage.
The Flames defeated the Sharks 3-2. Flames forward Stephane Yelle scored two goals, and goaltender Miika Kiprusoff made 37 saves against his former club to take the 1-0 series lead into tonight's Game 2 matchup. Defenceman Dion Phaneuf rounded out the scoring for the Flames.
Sharks forward Ryan Clowe who missed most of the regular season on the IR provided both goals for the Sharks. His line along with Patrick Marleau seemed to be the only one that consistently gave the Flames headaches during the game.
Quick Shave:
Home Ice Advantage didn't mean much last night to the Colorado Avalanche as they defeated the Minnesota Wild 3-2 last night in overtime. Joe Sakic scored roughly midway through the first period of extra time (his 8th career overtime playoff goal) to give the Avs the series lead 1-0. Game 2 is Friday night.

Well, I got those two wrong didn't I? For some reason, I have a hard time rooting against the Flames. Maybe it's Iginla. How do you not like the way that guy plays? But I want San Jose to win. I'm ready to see Joe Thornton FINALLY take his bag of tricks to the big stage. It's past time. And yet...man, the Flames. That's a good team. What a tough first round match up!
You have to guess that one major upset will happen in this first round. Will the Sharks be that unfortunate team?
