Well, it doesn't look like varsity tryouts at Michigan are going to happen this year (they already have a full squad), but the Club team is having tryouts right now, and I had a good time there.

Okay, so I'm about two feet from the blue line in a drill that requires me to get the puck out of my zone (I'm playing D) and one of the Offensmen just fucking DRILLS me into the boards. It was awesome. The guy tried to apologize, at which point I had to confess that I was proud to have been part of something as beautiful as that body check.

The coach saw me take the hit and thought I was feeling down about it (I was actually giddy as hell), so he called me over and explained that this kid was Varsity talent, only he hurt his shoulder last year and had to go through too much PT to play it.

Hell, at this point, even if I don't make the team, I'm just glad to have shared the ice with those guys, there were some damn fine hockey players on that ice.
