Isles make push without DiPietro
The Islanders playoff drive will have to continue on without their backbone in net Rick DiPietro who is out indefinitely.
DiPietro is suffering from post-concussion syndrome resulting from an injury he sustained two weeks ago when he collided with Habs forward Steve Begin. The Islanders goaltender failed a neuro-psychological exam and will remain out of the lineup until he can pass it.
For the Islanders this sucks. Once again the fading playoff hopes of a club rest squarely on the shoulders of goaltender Mike Dunham. I don't mean to give this guy a hard time, but when it comes to breaking out in big games, Dunham has done nothing but break down and collapse. His poor performance in net last season cost the Atlanta Thrashers their first ever franchise playoff bid. I hope I'm wrong, and the guy responds. He's got the opportunity to carry the Islanders to the playoffs, and it begins tonight against the Devils. A. B. C. A, Always. B, Be. C, Closing. Always be closing Mike.
Your friend on ice,
Captain Bosh

Man,this guys has been good for the islanders this year, and one of the reasons that they're in the playoffs right now. You gotta feel bad for the Islander fans...almost.
Oh, and the Jack Johnson thing...I'm not suprised to see him go. Not after what happened last year. I think he will help the Kings until the end of the year, but according to the Michigan Daily, JMFJ promised Red Berenson he'd get a degree from Michigan.
Personally, I have to say I'm not sorry to see him go. I'm training to try out for the Michigan varsity team this year, and that's one more slot Berenson will have to fill.

Sadly, I really don't think the Isles are gonna get in. Really bums me as Danny Flynn and the entire team and coaching staff (and front office staff, even Mr. Wang) were really great to my older son when he visited them in time to see the Chris Simon meltdown. Two things they need: a real goalie as a back-up (sorry, Mike hasn't been worth a hoot since college) and an owner who isn't always second guessing his coaches and micro-managing.
And Jeff, I'll light a candle for you. Would love to see you playing for Michigan. Red's a great guy and wonderful coach. Keep us posted- I am not that far away (hour and a half) and watch as many U of M games as I can.
