Souray Revenge!
When the hate you in Montreal.....they really hate you. Sidney Crosby is the newest player to wear the scarlet letter in the Bell Centre as the Canadiens crowd verbally assaulted him for most of the game.....their is but one way to silence them Sid...but coughing up the puck in overtime is not the way to do it.
Tomas Plekanec stole the puck from Sidney Crosby and set up Habs defenceman Sheldon Souray for the game winning score midway through the overtime period and give the Canadiens the 4-3 win. It was Souray's 5th game winning goal of the season, and his 44th point (18 goals, 26 assists). Souray leads the Montreal Canadiens in points and goals.
David Aebischer made 31 saves to preserve the victory for the Canadiens. Aebischer has been playing alot more lately, and I believe yesterday was his third start in four games. I wonder if Carbonneau is showcasing him prior to the trade deadline? Aebischer could be an affordable playoff rental for a team that is lacking confidence in their goaltending..... Tampa Bay perhaps?
Quick Shave:
The Washington Capitals dispatched the New York Islanders in a tight affair yesterday. The only other game on the pre Super Bowl schedule. Capitals forward Alexander Semin scored the only goal in the shootout to give his club the 2-1 win over the Islanders. Ovechkin was shutdown for most of the game and held to a single shot on net.
Game of the Night:
Detroit at NY Rangers 7:00 PM
Only one game on the evening, but it should be a pretty good one. New York Rangers forward Brendan Shanahan welcomes his old team the Detroit Red Wings to his new home. The Red Wings as usual have taken care of business this season, while the New York Rangers have been given the business, and sit outside the playoff bubble. Tonight's match should be emotionally charged, and perhaps Shanny will give his old mates some chin music. Enjoy the game!
Your friend on ice,
Captain Bosh

Man, I can just say that the OT goal was pretty.
Yeah, I see what's up, bosh. It's just me and you tonight, baby. Me and you.
Unfortunately, I have a genetics exam that I must attend instead of watching the first period. but that's okay. I'm sure that any damage done in the first can be rectified--40 minutes is still a lot of hockey, right?
I do plan on wearing my Wings jersey to the exam. Gotta Spread the word, brother. Can I get an Ay-men?

AY-MEN BROTHA!!!
This should be quite a game tonight.
Here's hoping we don't hear any of the irish jig in MSG tonight.

Man I knew you guys were gonna love this one!
Shanny joins the HTC tonight...how's that for trash talking?

Hey, I wasn't gonna talk smack, but the gloves are off, now.
I think I'll just use the tried and true classic BITCH, PLEASE!
I've been telling you from the start of the season: Shanny's a bum. Hell, I said that when he was on MY team.
Posted by: jeff | February 5, 2007 03:51 PM
Shanny may be a bum....but he beat the groin off of Hasek earlier, which clearly sent Hasek into a delusional state of mind where he thought briefly that he was a good puck handler, until Nylander reminded him that, ummm, not so much.
Come on Hassie!! You're the cornerstone of my fantasy team! Stay in the damn net!!
Anyway, the Rangers traded for Sean Avery! Oh man am I anxious for the Pens to play the Rangers again. Who knows how nasty that could get? But check it out: one of the prospects traded in the deal is a guy named Marc-Andre Cliche. I kid you not. Cliche. How genius is that? You could use that name in any American comedy sketch about hockey and no one would ever guess that it's a real guy. Awesome.
So yeah, Montreal fans called Crosby a "Faker" but apparently they also booed their home team at the end of the 2nd period. Hell, on the TSN message board I read some dude complaining that Souray should be the team's captain because he's tired of Mr. Koivu "doing nothing." Are you kidding me? Wow. How do you please fans like these? The stupid thing about the Crosby situation is that this is a kid who grew up a Canadiens fan! And Montreal CLEARLY took shots at Croz in the previous game; even a biased Habs fan should be able to recognize that as a smart strategy. I guess shouting at him is a strategy too, but I always think booing superstars is kind of silly. Every time the Pens fans boo Jagr he seems to score six goals. Rest assured, Crosby will get his revenge. The best players always do. Booing them is just wishful thinking.

You Dare question the Dominator? When He allows a team to score, it is for his own reasons which we mere mortals have no hope of comphrehending.
But seriously, it sounded like a great game, not just based on the score. I didn't get to watch it, but the webcast kept me pretty rivited. Must've been a good one, ay?

At one point hasek had a save% of .500.
I'm just glad that detroit is able to win these come from behind games because that is what they will have to do in the playoffs if they want to advance.
Great game last night, horrible goals but great exciting game.
