All Star Sabre
This is probably a prelude of things to come for the Buffalo Sabres this year. Captain Daniel Briere was named the MVP of the NHL All Star last night after his five point evening (1 goal, 4 assists), even thought the Eastern Conference All Stars fell 12-9 to the West.
The Ovechkin and Crosby union was held scoreless (except for a lone tally from AO - thanks to Paul on that one!) last night much to the dissapointment of most on-lookers. They were shut down by the West's Guerin, Perreault, and Rolston line, which also contributed 9 points in the match.
The NHL also debuted its new uniforms last night which were rumored to be sleeker, and more form-fitting, but really didn't look drastically different than what is currently employed. To the non-NHL fan, I doubt a difference would be noticed at all. Most players sounded off in a positive manner, especially about the water resistant nature of the fabric which kept the players dryer and lighter. I'm curious to see how the new look jerseys will be applied to the current uniforms in the future, and wonder how long it will be, before they are officially instituted. For more on the new uniforms click here.
Quick Shave:
This could be the end of a career for defenceman Darius Kasparaitis. The New York Rangers have apparently given up on the blue liner who's had a rough year following off season surgery. Kasparaitis has been scratched for the last three games and was officially put on waivers yesterday by the club. The NHL resumes tomorrow with a horde of games that will be mark the beginning of the sprint to the playoffs. As I've said before, the playoffs are pretty much attainable to every team in the league except for the Philadelphia Flyers (who are almost 25 points out at this point). We are going to have a tighter race than we did last season. One more day gang! Hang tight!
Your friend on ice,
Captain Bosh

My bad! Thanks for the heads up Paul!
What did you think of the game, and the new uni's?

The game was much better then the young stars, actual SHOOTING. If you didn't tell me that those were new uni's I would've never noticed. I think people got a little to twisted when the idea came out thinking the NHL was going to change the individual team logos and such.
I guess from what I read today that the players like them (or are holding back their hatred for RBK money).
